Crook Peak is a limestone hill situated in the Mendip Hills in Somerset.  Ordance Survey grid reference is ST 387 553.  There are two areas at the bottom of the hill for car parking, grid reference ST 392 550, GPS: 51° 17.4840 (N),  -2° 52.3680 (W).  These are situated on the road running along the southern edge of Crook Peak.

A moderate climb from the car park will bring you to 'The Razor' where we fly in south-westerly / southerly or north-easterly winds.  From the razor, there is a gentle climb to 'The Peak' giving outstanding views (weather permitting) of the Somerset Levels, the Mendip Hills, the Quantocks, South Wales and the Brecon Beacons.  Directly to the West of 'The Peak' is the 'West Face' which gives us good lift in westerly winds.  To the north is a smaller 'North Face' (you've guessed it - flown in northerly winds).  The last slope is on Compton Hill which we call 'The Tump' and is flown in south-easterly winds.

It is advisable to wear good walking boots or shoes.  In Summer, the terrain is generally smooth and dry, but in Winter, it can get muddy on some of the popular paths.  In Summer, protection from the sun is advised.  In Winter, protection from the cold and wind is essential.  Note also that this beautiful area is free of any burger vans, and once at the top, the only refreshments available will be those that you bring with you.  Please also ensure that you keep the area looking unspoilt by taking all your litter home with you.

Here is an interactive Google Map.  You can click on any of the icons for more information.  Clicking on the navigation buttons on the top left of the map allow you to zoom in and out or to scroll left/right/up/down.  Clicking on the map buttons on the top right change the view to map, satellite image or contour lines of the hill.
