Welcome to the West Mendip Soaring Association websiteThe West Mendip Soaring Association (WMSA) are a club who love to build and fly radio controlled model gliders. Our primary flying site is near the top of Crook Peak, a famous landmark overlooking the M5 motorway near the western end of the Mendip Hills between Weston-Super-Mare and Cheddar. Look at our Location page for details of how to find this beautiful Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). If you are new to radio controlled model gliding or want to find out more about possibly learning to fly a radio controlled model glider, then please contact one of the WMSA committee members on the Contact Us page. Any of the committee will be more than happy to answer any of your questions. Should you wish to become a member of the WMSA, then details of the cost of membership can be found on our Join Us page. We currently hold two open competitions each year. Anyone can enter an open competition (subject to satisfactory third party insurance) and people are prepared to travel long distances in order to take part in our competitions. A list of this years open competitions and also the results of last years open competitions can be found on the Events page. There is also a downloadable twelve page calendar with event dates and photographs available on the Events page. We also try to run eight club competitions each year for WMSA members only. These competitions are not as difficult as open competitions, but are designed to improve the flying skills of any of our members who take part in them. A photo gallery shows photographs of some of the models we fly, some of our members, open competitions and the beautiful area in which we fly our models.
